Padang Bai

Padangbai is a village in Manggis sub-district, Karangasem regency, on the eastern side of Bali Island, Indonesia. The city became a ferry port for voyages to Lombok Island, Nusa Penida, Gili Islands and other islands in West Nusa Tenggara. In addition to being a port city, the city also offers the tourists with the life of a beautiful and quiet little beach town in the form of a bay where in the east there is a headland called tanjung sari whose name is taken from the name of a sacred shrine of the temple of Empu Bharadah named Pura Tanjung Sari. Besides the white sandy main beach, there are also two other white sandy beaches namely Padang Kurungan beach in the east and Bias Tugel beach in the west. Padang Kurungan Beach is a beautiful beach which is famous for its underwater beauty which is dominated by colorful and soft coral fish and the existence of blue lagoon in the middle of beautiful beach so that this beach is often also called blue lagoon beach. While the beach Bias Tugel (White Sand Beach) located on the west coast of the main Padangbai, famous for its beauty because of its wide white sand and blue sea and clear. The name of Padangbai village is actually given by the Dutch. Formerly this village named the village of Padang. Since it is located in a shallow calm bay, the Netherlands, in its attempt to make Bali its colonies, built a barrage as well as a harbor there. By the Dutch, the bay of Padang is called Padang Baai. Baai in Dutch means Bay. After the independence of Indonesia, the name of Padang village was changed to Teluk Padang. However, the tourists and writers of foreign traveling books, call it Padang Bay, which in translation means Teluk Padang.
